West Norfolk accountants' big cheque for MacmillanWest Norfolk accountants exceed Macmillan target by 65%
West Norfolk firms Mapus-Smith & Lemmon LLP and Mapus Financial Planning Limited have exceeded their £5,000 fundraising target for Macmillan Cancer Support by 65%. To mark the occasion, two of the firm’s accountants - Vicky Ling and Vikkie Ely - presented a massive cheque for £8,232.22 to Macmillan fundraising manager Paul Fleet.
The money was raised by 36 members of staff who took part in a gruelling 100-kilometre challenge set by Vicky Ling and Vikkie Ely. Combined they covered 1,695 kilometres with a combination of cycling 70 kilometres, running 10 kilometres and walking 20 kilometres.
Macmillan’s Paul Fleet said: “We invited local businesses to raise £1,000 each as a celebration for Macmillan Cancer Support’s 100th birthday. Increasing this fivefold at the outset and then exceeding it by such a large amount is fantastic and taking on the 100-kilometre challenge was a huge achievement too. We are very grateful for the support which will go towards our nursing facilities.”
On behalf of her colleagues at Mapus-Smith & Lemmon and Mapus Financial Planning, Vicky Ling said: “Macmillan is a charity that is close to the hearts of so many. The nurses do a fantastic job and we all really enjoyed the challenge. We are very grateful to everyone who supported us – family, friends and clients all played a part. It was a great team-building event and to do it for such a worthwhile cause made it even more rewarding.”
